Nearer to Nature

Its been quite sometime I have been searching around to see what makes me truly happy. I dont mean that I am not happy, I just mean that I have become materialistic, for sometime, and probably will become materialistic on and off. I went around looking for happiness in materialistic things, but a feel of something missing was always there, in some corner of my heart.

As they say "Realizations hit hard", I went on a vacation, and did nothing but sit idle, think nothing, be nothing, and just let myself "BE". I was standing near the window of my house, and was just gazing through it, lost in nothingness, when I saw these birds(that you can see in the video), merrily taking bath and eating.

I started cleaning up these bird feeder containers and the bath container(that you see in the video), and was filled up with the images of what I saw the other day. I wished that they come today as well, look at the clean bird feeders and bath container, and enjoy it better than the other day.... And they came, happy as ever.... The sight of them and their sound of chirping, filled me with a sensation - called HAPPINESS.

There can be many instances to feel that true moment of happiness, one of them is what I am sharing with you all, on this video and on this one.

My first random rendezvous with that moment of happiness - Being nearer to nature.

Hoping I would share another moment soon, and then another... I kind of decided to write posts of this sought, whenever I feel that true moment of happiness :) ... I already feel like I have got some purpose in my life :)

I am grateful to have selected this book during my 4 days of vacation. I just couldnt resist the book. With the pace I was reading, I knew it would be finishing in a day and it did.
The book starts off with Nicholas making plans to go on a trip with his brother and when they finally start out on the journey, its not only mesmerizing but also leads Nicholas to introspect on certain aspects of his life.

I have had the privilege to have the wonderful places described by my favorite author in this book. At the same time, I was disappointed to know that Nicholas dint like India, though I must say he cannot know India by visiting just Jaipur and Agra. However, I must say that after reading this book, I would never miss a chance to visit Guatemala to see the Mayan civilization. And Cambodia with its Hindu temples at Angkorwat has also caught my attention, the way a visitor explained the meaning of what was depicted in the frescoes and paintings. It kept me wondering that what history we know may never be completely true, but it would definitely tell what the civilizations in that era did with their time.  And I can see that they revealed to us what they wanted us to know, even if it was not true sometimes.

This book has made me laugh, cry, remember my childhood days, and most important of all, I have known how my favorite author has grown up. And one interesting fact I found out is that he is the middle child of his parents just like I am. Some of the attention seeking moments from the author's life, were similar to that of mine. Trust me when I say, I also used to get A grades all throughout my schooling, and used to do things to be that "not so troubling child" to my parents.
Some of the interesting facts like Nicholas writing two horror genre novels which never were meant for publishing, and that his first romantic novel has been "The Notebook" which changed his economic conditions too, made me feel that this author, of all the authors I might know, has deserved this moment and much more than that.

I have always thought that the books a person writes reflects his personality and his perspective of life, and it is true in every sense when you get to read this book. Nicholas, nick named as Nicky, is a true romantic at heart. All the characters in his life are very understanding and he surely deserves them. The same reflects in all his books.

Knowing that the character of Jamie Sullivan (from the book "The Walk to Remember") has been based on the character of his little sister, "Dana", I was overwhelmed with that moment of life which is rare - tears and smile at the same time. If you people knew how much I adore this book and the movie, you would know how much I wished I met his sister if she was alive now.

As I write this review, I still have to read 4 more books of this author.
1. A Bend In The Road
2. The Rescue
3. The Best of Me
4. True Believer

After knowing that the book "The Rescue" is based on his kid, Ryan, this is the next book on my list and consecutively the other books. I dont want to leave any book unread written by this author. In some ways, I have learned and felt deeply about the one feeling that is important in everyone's life - and that is "LOVE".

I have read that when your life's purpose is fulfilled, and you have learnt your lessons, you are most likely ready to leave the world. Not sure about this saying, but my heart likes to believe it.

However smooth the life is, there is always something in your way, something that has shown itself, something that is unfolding right now as you read this and something that is yet to be witnessed. Inspite of that something being there in your life, its not always true that we realize its presence.

Why do people do what they do and why is that there are others who do nothing or do something terribly bad, yet get away with it. Do they really get away with it? I am a staunch believer that people dont really get away with anything. There is a saying that "What goes around comes around", and this should be playing a role in everyone's life.

There is this presence of waves around us, we dont actually see them but they are being used for various purposes. In the same way, emotions, in the form of waves are flowing around us, in and out. Again, we dont see them, but once in a while, feel them, dont we? You very well realize when you hurt someone, you get the emotional wave hitting you, or you made someone's day, you will definitely know this.

Aren't the emotions not strong enough these days that they can affect people, not even an iota of those emotions work? They do! Thats my final say. Its my perception, you can contradict it for many reasons you might have. I was reading this quote the other day which says "Those who matter dont mind. Those who mind dont matter". Ultimately, the matter (here the emotional waves) is present, minding or not minding is a choice, isnt it? However, what I want to tell is that I feel the emotional waves most of the times, sometimes I do something about them, and sometimes, I dont. When I dont do, I presume its not required, I can be totally wrong there, but its a choice I make. Sometimes, I dont even realize these waves were present, and I had to do something :( .............. I am on a journey where I need to recognize, channelize these waves so that it works for the common good of everybody. I am still learning.

That Something which involves Somebody at Sometime or the other forms your so called LIFE.

Its been a while I havent put my thoughts onto a paper and as a result, no blog posts as such. You might also observe that I have deleted 2 posts, and in case you havent observed, you know it now from me. I have deleted 2 posts on a story, which I was penning down for a long time now. Those posts will be back and with an end this time.

Today, 31st December 2011, when people around me are enjoying and waiting eagerly for the so-called doomed year or as I call it, “BEGINNING TO THE END OF THE WORLD” year, I am sitting here trying to collect the things I have done this year. Among the places I visited this year, a place called Ananthagiri in Vikarabad has caught my attention. Yes, this post is about my observations. The images are original and clicked by me.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see the below image? Some of you may not know what it is, let me tell you, its called Kabutar Khana or Pigeon Cote.

Kabutar Khana as I understand is something that was significant to the building architecture of the Muslims. I have read about pigeons being trained and maintained in the kabutar khanas and used for communication in the olden days. Though you can say that everyone used pigeons for communication, you cannot deny the construction of kabutar khana to be associated to Muslims. Isnt it?

Now take a look at the below image.

Any thoughts on why the kabutar khana is in the same premises as a temple??? May be most of the other buildings that existed prior to the temple were just remains and were completely destroyed, and then the people in this area might have constructed the temple in its place. This could just be a possibility that I see. You can have different views on what might have happened in this area. But why was a temple constructed in an area, which was popular in history for being occupied by Muslims? I presume the conquerors were Hindus or people in power were basically Hindus. In case you are wondering what I am getting at, I am just assuming that history of this place is lost, thanks to people who manipulated the whole area.

Lets look at the dwar to the temple from the backside.

Does the above image ring any bells?

Lets have a closer look at the entrance.

I am convinced with the above picture that this place has gone dumb to what it has faced, lost in the pages of its history. I am not sure of how many such places have been conveniently converted. In the above case, I could find some hints but it may not always be the same.

My intention to visit the place was purely for enjoyment, but the trip had enlightened me on some other things.

In and around this temple which is called “Ananta Padmanabha Swami Temple”, you will see

If Only We Can Listen

Oh my God! Having ears does not signify that we are listening, did you know that?!!!! Also everything that is perceivable through the 5 senses is mostly not perceived or in other words, the feel, hear, touch, taste, smell are no more being used effectively and we dont even know that.

Most of the present day generations have forgotten to connect with Nature. Go into the opening of your gardens or to a park, and experience the goodness of the each and every sound you hear. It can be from a bird,or the trees........ they all do have something to tell you if only you can listen to them......... I am sure most of them would feel as to what will we comprehend even if we listen to the sounds of nature, but lets take this a step ahead and think, do we really need to comprehend, just listening gives away many things to learn....

History has its say that every living being in the universe has their ways of communication, though these communicative ways are not understood by each and everyone. According to me, you do not have to understand which language the nature is speaking to you in, but just dwell in its surroundings to get grip of your lost self in the race of this busy buzzy life of yours :) .......... Do you know the language of music to understand or enjoy it ? - Not really,.... and thats the reason its considered a universal language.....

In the same way...... If Only You Can Listen, there are many things trying to communicate to you and you dont have to know their language to  comprehend what they tell you.... you need to just dwell in their presence....... Try It!

Selfless Wish

This is not my thought (as my blog mentions).... its my effort to write a story (second story of mine). I am as of now an amateur story teller trying to explore my story telling skills.

In the silence of the night nearly around 2 AM, when the train was about to leave the station, those 2 great friends never knew that they will not see each other again in their lifetime. If they will ever meet in future, that would be an applause to their great friendship as their friendship was being put to test.

That day when they got separated, a secret lie within them which they could not share with anyone as that would sound absurd. They both possessed a wish they could use only on their birthdays - one wish which can be used at any of their future birthdays. This wish was given to them by a djinn whom they met at a haunted place.

It was the cursed djinn's presence in that haunted place which separated Johannes and Genny that night. But they were oblivious to this fact. Even after their separation, meticulous attempts were involved in creating circumstances between these distant friends which left no traces of each other's existence. Their letters never reached each other neither did their phone calls. Its been a year when they realized that they have got to move on.

That night when they were separated, Johannes went to school accompanied by Genny, they studied in the same standard and were considered a paragon of friendship by everyone in their school. Johannes was in a mood for adventure that evening, and asked Genny to go with him to a haunted place in their locality. They left after their science class and went to this place, it was deserted since their childhood and the local people believed that this was considered haunted because of a person named Clara whose temper levels killed her.

Their area's Clairvoyant sensed her death long before and warned her that her death would be the consequence of the uncontrollable anger she gets. She hurts herself when she is out of control with anger.

That day, when she died, the moment her soul left the body, she saw a djinni laughing looking in her direction. The Djinns are usually not visible to the people who did not summon them except for the souls.

The real fact was that the djinn was observing some group of boys through the window, they were playing outside when this sudden death incident took place. This was misunderstood by that girl's spirit and right away came a curse from her mouth. The curse was that the Djinni will be locked in her house and only his wish (which he grants to others) can exempt him from this curse.

This girl was considered to be good but she could not stand when people behaved stupidly selfish. When she died, that was the day she started believing that the word "humanity" has lost its meaning and that this can be replaced with another word which may mean "SELFISHNESS". Its her best friend who can be blamed for her death but that fact was dead and gone.

The Djinn would attain redemption when people use his wish not for their benefit but for others(not acting selfish).

That night when Johannes and Genny were separated, the curse was intensified by Clara's presence, she was visiting the djinn after around 500 years. This is the reason why those friends were separated that day. There was a positive vibration in the kind of friendship they shared which made Clara believe that she would be proven wrong when she says that human beings are selfish as hell. Through out her life, she was trying to find a friend who was selfless at least towards her. When she encountered their friendship, she was a bit jealous and put those friends to a test.

Since Johannes and Genny shared their birthdays, they remembered about this wish and sat down to jot down all the wishes they ever wanted. Genny's wishes included one selfless wish - "Johannes should be happy wherever he is, whether he remembers me or not". Though not of the same kind, but Johannes wish was also selfless and it included Genny's happiness.

Thus broke the curse, the djinn and Clara's soul were emancipated from the bondage.

The curse which prevailed on Johannes and Genny was also broken and they met each other the very next day. Both of them were at a conference on "The Djinns - Demons or Angels in disguise". Somehow they both took interest in knowing more about Djinns of all time. Their phenomenal experiments proved that djinns existed, but what they failed on was to summon the djinn who gave them a wish.

At last, when they met, they had to do this first to know what happened that night as they had their own inklings that their last night before departing was doomed. There came the djinn and explained all that happened to them, that is when they felt overwhelmed by their actions.

A memorable friendship, that is what everyone needs. However bad the world may look, its the friends in your life who make the world a better place to live.

On this note, I wish everyone gets at least one friend to whom they can turn to at any situation of their life.

One of my friends named Utkalinee suggested the Title for this story when I narrated this to her. I was actually not publishing for a long time because I dint get the title for this story, thanks to Utkalinee.....
Utkalinee... many thanks for your prompt title for this story.

TEARS - THE REAL ONES

When was the last time you have seen that you were crying after seeing a heart touching movie or reading a lovely story.

Yes, that cry which brings tears and a good feeling fills the heart upto the brim is the one which washes the person's bad moods and starts pouring good feelings so that it can make their day.

I am sure everyone has cried atleast once in their lives. Tears, Tears and Tears..... I do feel there is some magic in them which washes away the bad part of a person.....I dont say that you shouldnt be happy but I just want to say that when you really feel low, dont stop your cry, in that way, you are satisfying your ego, assuming that when you cry, it shows your weakness.

Respond to every feeling that comes to you so that it isnt stored away and never shown until its forgotten. This pile up of feelings will be no good to anyone.
